Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Table

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot including angels, fiends, and dark forces growing in influence within the urban setting.

Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled

Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.

This warrior group features Teor (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.

At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

First, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—used the enemy for his own means, invading the secret base, striking the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.

Casimir then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each member has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
  • The adventurer has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a hostile location.
  • The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • However, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could help the team enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, Teor swore a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.

This leaves them few options but to head to the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.

What’s Next?

Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Questers and Planners parties.

Audiences can expect discovering which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on next week.
